It's Been So Long

Wow, I didn't realize how long it has been since I posted any art. It's been a busy couple months. I hope to get back into the swing of things shortly!

Shirt.Woot Derby #95: Pointillism

This was another tough week. I intensely love pointillism, but that doesn't mean I intensely love doing it. In fact, it is extremely annoying and frustrating. But, I managed to get one out. This composition is entitled: Would You Like to Be Happy, Too?

Well, I really enjoy the way some of the Shirt.Woot designers use halftones, so I was playing around with them last night. I didn't start out with much of a concept in mind, but I think this shaped out really nicely. So nicely, in fact, that I actually decided to submit the design as a second entry in the Air derby. There has been some concern about the halftones being too small. I don't think it will be a problem, but I guess we'll see how it goes.

Shirt.Woot Derby #94: Air

So, you may have noticed that I skipped a week. Well, Shirt.Woot had a Double-Take derby, wherein, they take entries that they had given Honorable Mentions (didn't win, but Shirt.Woot liked 'em) in the past couple months and they get another shot at printing. I didn't have any Honorable Mentions, so I got to sit the week out. However, Shirt.Woot did post the new theme for this week right away, so I technically got a jump. Unfortunately, Air isn't too inspiring a theme, so I didn't get started until Thursday morning (05/07/2009) anyway. Oh, well...

Anyways, here is my entry for the Air derby:

The Aerator Strikes Again!!!
Bubbleton - A lot of things strike fear into the hearts of Bubbleton's residents, but the recent report of a serial popper sent shivers down the spines of even the manliest bubble. The menace has been dubbed "The Aerator" by local newspapers for his modus operandi of aerating unsuspecting bubbles. More at 10:00pm...

Side Project

So, I had been seeing many horse/unicorn related entries submitted on Shirt.Woot and I was just horrified. The proportions were all wrong, but then... horses ARE difficult to draw. I remember drawing them when I was much younger and being often frustrated. Anyways, as a side project, I decided to give a try. I did a lot of research and couldn't find any pictures of a horse in the pose I wanted, so I kinda had to take elements from several pictures and I hope that it looks realistic. Here is my finished work:
